Before you call me to have your carpet patched, read this page from my website.
When people call to get their carpet patched they have this important question on their mind. My phone rings everyday with requests to patch their carpet, and then the question comes, “will I be able to see the patch?”
The simple answer is maybe. Maybe yes, maybe no and maybe maybe.
What makes a patch more visible?
Short nap carpet shows seams more than long nap carpet and looped carpet shows the cross seams more than non-looped carpet.
If your carpet is worn or faded your patch will be more visible than if the carpet is new.
If you have some extra carpet to do the patch with, it may have no fading at all compared to the carpet that needs patching. If the carpet that needs to be patched is faded and the carpet scrap we will use to do the patch with is like new, it might be a good idea to place the new scrap in the sunshine for awhile. I can’t promise that this will work but your chances of having an invisible carpet patch go way up if the carpet is the same color.
